Description
On June 17, 1958, Donald Brenne, then age thirty-two, was employed as a lineman for the St. Croix County Electric Cooperative,
and while in the course of such employment received a severe electrical shock of 7,200 volts. As a result of this injury he
received multiple burns to various parts of his body and traumatic amputation of the index finger on his left hand and the
ring finger on his right hand. Following a period of temporary total disability and treatment, he returned to work in November, 1958. Although he continued
to work, he became very nervous and anxious. His condition deteriorated to the extent that on June 8, 1964, he consulted Dr.
John A. May of the Baldwin Clinic. He was hospitalized from June 10, 1964, to June 16, 1964, due to acute anxiety and depressive
reactions. His condition did not improve and Dr. May referred him to the Northwest Psychiatric Clinic in Eau Claire, where
he received treatment from Dr. Joseph M. Tobin, a member of the clinic, whose practice is limited to psychiatry and neurology
and who was certified by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry in 1956.
